Born and raised in a small rural farming community in Central Illinois, Captain Josh was always on local lakes and rivers.  Boating and water have always been a part of his life whether it be bass and crappie fishing with his Dad, taking the kids tubing/skiing, or just an evening sunset cruise with the family. 

 

He worked in manufacturing (book printing and binding) for 16 years.  During this professional experience as a VP of Manufacturing and Plant Manager, Captain Josh was exposed to training/implementation, creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), scheduling, efficiency evaluations, and safety reviews.  He left his factory life in 2019 to move to Cape Coral, FL. 

 

Since then he applied his manufacturing background to 2 of the largest boat dealerships' service departments.  Through fielding many calls, 1 on 1 exposure, and hearing client needs, he saw a niche to be filled and developed United Captain Services LLC.  

 

He is a father of 3, a husband, and a USCG Licensed Master. Graduating from The Captain's School in Cape Coral, his ticket is 25 Ton Master Inland Waters and 25 ton Mate Near Coastal. He also holds a towing endorsement. Captain Josh is currently logging more seatime on larger vessels to grow to his 100 ton Master Near Coastal. 

 

"Creating Boating Confidence" was formed as a tagline, however, he lives by this. Be Safe, don't tear up your stuff, and be educated.  With all of those comes confidence and comfort. Southwest Florida provides many different kinds of boating experiences from fishing, beaching, cruising with friends, or restaurant hopping.
